CEN/TC 53 'Temporary works equipment' conducts standardization activities in the area of temporary works equipment used for maintenance, building, construction work and for temporary structures made of the same equipment. The products and systems are normally intended for repeated use. Standardization of machinery is excluded.
CEN developed a CEN Workshop Agreement (CWA) on smart CE marking. This CWA is foreseen to be a reference document and serve as a basis for the implementation of the smart CE marking concept into harmonised standards under the Construction Products Regulation (CPR).
JIS action 5
Action 5 of the ‘Joint Initiative on Standardization’ (JIS) under the Single Market Strategy, aims at aiding the implementation of the Construction Products Regulation - CPR (EU) 305/2011 - through standards.
One of the focal points under this JIS action concerns the provision of guidance to standardizers working within the construction sector to ensure a common understanding on the role of harmonized standards in the CPR context.
With the aim of training standardizers, a one-day workshop was organized by CEN-CENELEC in collaboration with Construction Products Europe, included:
- a discussion on lessons learnt from past non-citations of harmonized standards in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU);
- an informative presentation on recent updates within the construction sector related to mandates and standards;
- the provision of guidance to the technical experts for drafting of Harmonized European Standards (hENs) in support of CPR (e.g. classes and thresholds and dangerous substances).
Presentations and audio from this workshop are publicly available here.
