The chemical domain is wide and covers sub-domains such as:
petroleum products, explosives for civil uses, pyrotechnic articles, fertilizers, paints, varnishes, adhesives, soil improvers, surface active agents, derivatives from coal pyrolysis, solid biofuels, recovered fuels, allergens, plastics, bio-based products, sustainably produced biomass for energy applications and photocatalysis.

The corresponding legislative framework is also very extensive and is continuously evolving to stick to the new technologies, new products, better production performances and new safety threshold.

The economic and environmental impacts of the chemical domain are extremely important and justify the deep involvement of CEN, the European Commission and the stakeholders to ensure that adequate standards are available.
