One of the main challenges with the increase in vessel operations in the Artic will be the corresponding increase in accidents, resulting in marine pollution from the oil fuel on-board.
The CEN CWA on 'Ships and marine technology – Specification for bunkering of methanol fuelled vessels' acts as a guideline for safe bunkering of methanol to vessels, a need that was identified by the International Maritime Organisation.
The kick-off meeting was held on 10 September 2019.
A first draft CWA was submitted to comments until 25 November 2019, prior to the WS meeting of 30 January 2020
The CWA was finalized during a second (virtual) meeting on 15 April 2020 and published on 6 May 2020.
