The overall purpose and objective of this workshop is to develop a CWA (CEN Workshop Agreement) which will define a set of consensus-based guidelines for developing Management Recommendations tailored for the EU fishing fleet operating outside European waters. The guidelines are to provide a methodology for how to identify important issues that hinder environmental, social and economic sustainability of the fisheries in questions, and a framework on how to develop guidelines for resolving these issues, in cocreation with stakeholders. The guidelines are to follow the Results-Based Management (RBM) approach.
This CEN Workshop was proposed by the FarFish consortium. FarFish is constituted of public and private partners aiming to provide knowledge, tools and methods to support responsible, sustainable and profitable EU fisheries outside European waters, compatible with Maximum Sustainable Yield. For further details please visit their website (https://www.farfish.eu/). The guidelines will draw upon experience from work carried out in the FarFish project, where such guidelines have been developed and tested.
All interested parties are invited to submit comments on the draft Project Plan to Workshop Secretary, Mr Rolf DUUS (RDu@standard.no) June 16th 2020.
