Background
Rental has become, in industrialised countries, a critical way of addressing construction equipment needs.
As opposed to the sales process which represents, for the larger equipment especially, a single process between the vendor and the purchaser, rental activity represents a flow of repetitive transactions where the rental operator offers not only a large array of modern equipment and tools, but also service and training to the customer supported by new communication technologies.
In Europe, the European equipment rental industry is very diverse in its structures as well as in its strategies and operating models.
The European Rental Association (ERA), has prepared a framework for rental conditions for B to C made up from the benchmark of existing conditions among its national rental association members.
The objective of the workshop is to improve the contractual relations between professionals and consumers giving the professional a reference point for developing their own standard terms and conditions for the rental of equipment to consumer customers within their own and in other European countries.
CEN Workshop Agreement
The CEN Workshop Agreement (CWA) will describe the standard terms and conditions for rental equipment supplied without an operator, so that this document can be used, by associations as well as by rental companies, as a reference point for developing their own standard terms and conditions for the rental of equipment to consumer customers within their own and in other European countries.
