CEN Workshop on 'Orchestrating industrial data' (WS/ORCHID)

Start date: May 2009

End date: November 2010

The Orchid (Orchestration of Industrial Data) group is a network of European Companies and consortia dedicated to standardising information across the process industry engineering supply chain to build competitive advantage. Its goal is to progress the industry toward interoperability.

The process and plant industry needs to overcome significant barriers to standardization including large volume of complex information, large number of companies working across a fragmented plant engineering supply chain and more than 50 conventions and standards used in the process industry.

The CEN Workshop ORCHID - set up in 2009 - was the platform for the ORCHID group to discuss these issues and agree on a roadmap towards interoperability at European level.  The Workshop was chaired by Dalip Sud, Shell.

CWA 16180:2010 (3 parts) 'The CEN ORCHID Roadmap standardising information across the plant engineering supply chain':  Part 1 Direction and framework   Part 2 Implementation guide   Part 3 Standards landscape
