Eurpean Legislation and mandates
European Standards are developed in the context of European legislation.
Standardization for solid biofuels and solid recovered fuels is in close collaboration with the services of the Commission since it affects the directive for incineration of waste (Directive 2000/76/EC
Standardization activities for pyrotechnic articles support Directive 2007/23/EC
on the placing on the market of pyrotechnic articles.
The Lead Market Initiative
inspired standardization activities in the area of bio-based products. Mandate M/429 for the elaboration of a standardization programme for bio-based products also requested a review and identification of already existing standards. The result of the standard analysis
has been published as a Technical Report (CEN/TR 16208) in May 2011. Please access the conclusions from the standards analysis here.
