1. How to find information on the CEN BOSS site   Go to top

The first operational version of the CEN BOSS is dated July 2000.

For this final release, a user friendly search tool has been developed, based on feedback received during the pilot phase.

The structure of the site is such that guidance to the content will be offered through a set of site helpers (quick links). These tools are always available on the top and bottom of the pages and will offer the following:

  • Under Search, you will find some brief guidance on how to find information in the CEN BOSS (for the time being the search engine is based on the one used for the CEN Management Centre web site and, in addition, on an index of keywords);
  • The Site map lists all the major CEN BOSS pages and offers direct access to these pages;
  • What's new is intended to give an index to new and changed information included on the CEN BOSS site, after each publication;
  • Contact us offers you information service and the opportunity for comments and feedback;
  • FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) is intended to offer answers to key questions on the CEN BOSS; feedback from users enabled the drafting of some questions which need to be addressed here;
  • Glossary lists words which are referred to in the BOSS and their definition. Access to related documents is also available via the glossary.

2. Page layout - Navigation and hyperlinks  Go to top

Details on the page layout and navigation aspects for the CEN Management Centre Web site Quit BOSS site in general (this link leaves the CEN BOSS and goes to the related part of the CMC site).

Page layout and navigation features specific to the CEN BOSS site:

  • Page layout:
    The CEN BOSS content for the Profiles, the Management Processes, the Production Processes and the Support Processes is designed as a table. The left hand column of the table gives the content of the profile or process and the right hand column contains hyperlinks to reference documents and supporting tools.

  • External hyperlinks:
    When a link leads you out of the CEN BOSS site, the symbol Quit BOSS site is used.
  • Navigation and hyperlinks:
    Blue is the colour used for the hyperlinks.

    Note 1: In the first half of 2007 the CEN Web Site was given a new look and feel whereby all hyperlinks are indicated in blue and not underlined. In order to update BOSS accordingly, the old colour code system is gradually being done away with. Those pages which have not yet been reviewed may still contain the various colours for the hyperlinks - thank you for your understanding during this transission period.

    Note 2: A document reference not indicated in blue means that the link has still to be made active and/or that the referenced document is not yet available in an appropriate electronic format.
