1. Role/Definition
The Legal Platform is an informal network with no permanent structure and no decision-making power.
2. Reports to
CEN and CENELEC Governing Bodies.
3. Responsibilities
The Legal Platform has been mandated by the CEN and CENELEC CAs to provide advice to the Governing Bodies on specific legal matters of relevance for the CEN and CENELEC communities where coordinated actions are needed.
4. Rights
The Legal Platform may provide advice, either upon request or by its own initiative.
It will also serve to animate and encourage the exchange of information and practices among legal advisors from national, European and international standardization bodies in view to provide advice on specific legal issues.
5. Composition
The Legal Platform is composed of legal experts of the CEN and CENELEC NSBs-NCs and open to ETSI, ISO, IEC legal advisors for all those issues of common interest, and when to share information and best practices with these organisations is needed.
The management of the Legal Platform is ensured by a “Network Leader” and a CCMC “Coordinator”.
6. Method of appointment/Review
The Network Leader is nominated by the CEN and CENELEC CAs among the legal experts participating to the Legal Platform.
The legal experts are appointed by the CEN and CENELEC NSBs-NCs.
7. Mode of working
The Legal Platform works via, or a combination of, web meetings, physical meetings and ad hoc informal forum discussions.
“Livelink” is used to disseminate and archive documents and correspondence.
