Avoidance of duplication of work where electrotechnical and non-electrotechnical sectors have some aspects in common.                           Internal Regulations - Part 2, 4.2.1.3

CEN/BT and CENELEC/BT  
    

3. Responsibilities

Establishes standard(s) within the given scope, as decided by the Presidential Committee, and in accordance with the procedures of the organisation (CEN or CENELEC) to which the secretariat belongs.                              
4. Rights

Voting rights are restricted to CEN/CENELEC national members                     
5. Composition

5.1  Composed of CEN and CENELEC representatives and open to all CEN and CENELEC national members, on the basis of only one common delegation per country with representatives appointed by the members of CEN and CENELEC in that country.
When forming their delegations to the joint Technical Committee (TC) meetings and appointing experts to joint Working Groups (WG), CEN and CENELEC members ensure that all interests affected by the work are properly taken into account

5.2  If appropriate, at the discretion of the Presidential Committee, representatives from other bodies may participate as observers

6. Method of appointment/Review

6.1  Joint CEN/CENELEC TCs are set up by the Presidential Committee after consultation of all CEN and CENELEC members, with the aim of carrying out harmonisation work. This decision is ratified by the relevant body of each organisation Internal Regulations - Part 2, 4.2.1.3.1                             
6.2  The chairperson is appointed by the PC or elected by the delegations at the first meeting, on proposal of the secretariat 
7. Mode of working
Normally through Working Groups although other subgroups, e.g Chairperson's Advisory Group, may be appropriate
