3. Responsibilities
| Prepares agreements on common matters and assists CEN, CENELEC and ETSI to achieve the following objectives: |
|
| 3.1 to agree technical work to be undertaken with due urgency preventing duplications and gaps in the work programmes |

| 3.2 to develop common basic rules for procedures and presentation of European Standards to be developed and maintained |
|
| 3.3 to make information on technical work available by sharing a common information system |
|
| 3.4 to promote accessibility by all economic parties e.g. through joint workshops |
|
| 3.5 to contribute to evolution of European standardization to reflect political developments in Europe, the single European market, and on a wider level the European Economic Area in the context of world trade |
|

5. Composition
- Presidents of the 3 organisations
- Secretary General of CEN and CENELEC and Director of ETSI
- Up to 3 senior representatives from each of the 3 organisations

6. Method of appointment/Review
- Chairpersonship rotates between the 3 organisations on a yearly basis
- Secretariat is allocated to 1 of the 2 other organisations
- Senior representatives are nominated by their respective organisations. CEN representatives are selected from among the Management Committee (MC) members

7. Mode of working
|
7.1 The Joints Presidents Group is assisted by:
- the Joint Coordination Group (JCG)
- the Information and Communication Technology Steering Board (ICTSB).

| 7.2 The JCG acts as an instance of last resort with all coordination questions in potentially overlapping areas of CEN, CENELEC and ETSI, with the exception of ICT matters. |

7.3 ICTSB acts in the field of Information and Communication Technologies in order to:
- analyse and co-ordinate standards/specification requirements received from any competent source and based on concrete market needs
- translate standards/specification requirements into coherent, approved programmes of standardization
- allocate projects to the different production mechanisms of the participating organisations on a project management basis
