Plays a specific and active role in the management of the CEN and CENELEC Systems on behalf of the CEN and the CENELEC National Members as agreed by their respective General Assemblies (AG).

3. Responsibilities

3.1 Monitors and manages the work programmes of CEN and of CENELEC taking into account the Vienna and Dresden Agreements.

                      
3.2  Assists CEN and CENELEC Technical Committees in their standards development programmes, especially in the achievement of target dates.

                            
3.3  Maintains the CEN Statutes, the CENELEC Articles of Association and the CEN-CENELEC Internal Regulations and procedures, providing advice as requested.

3.4  Processes and distributes documents for submission to CEN and CENELEC Enquiry and Votes.

3.5  Proceeds to the final editing in one single language and publication of ratified texts.

3.6  Monitors and manages the translation process for CEN and CENELEC deliverables.

3.7  Organises, services meetings and implements the relevant decisions of the CEN and CENELEC Presidential Committee (PC), General Assemblies (AGs), Administrative Boards (CAs), Technical Boards (BTs), as well as all their advisory groups.

3.8  Services the CEN and CENELEC Members and processes the requests for full membership and affiliation.

3.9  Organises, services meetings every other year on a rotational basis with ETSI and implements the relevant decisions of the CEN-CENELEC-ETSI Joint Presidents Group.

3.10 Processes and maintains the CEN and CENELEC central databases and related reports.

3.11 Provides a PR service including the coordination of PR network meetings, maintenance of the CEN, CENELEC and CEN-CENELEC websites,  including SMEs. Organises CEN and CENELEC events, produces the Annual Report, press releases, quarterly newsletters (Connect), Statistical Package and other CCMC Publications, and ensures their effective distribution.

3.12 Maintains up-to-date records on all matters of interest to the CEN and the CENELEC Systems.

3.13 Manages the budget of CCMC including the financial arrangements with EC and EFTA as well as for the consultants contracted to assist in the technical work of CEN and CENELEC.

3.14 Liaises and ensures effective dialogue with ISO and IEC, European Institutions (in particular EC and EFTA Secretariat) and other recognised organisations.

3.15 Manages Technical Assistance contracts with the participating contributors (e.g. those funded by EC) in respect of their external policy in the fields of technical regulation, standardization, quality infrastructure, conformity assessment, metrology and other related fields on behalf of the CEN and CENELEC Members.

3.16 Develops and maintains IT tools to support and improve CEN and CENELEC working practices.

3.17 Promotes the Keymark and provides support to the CEN Certification Board (CCB) and Scheme Development Groups, if required.

3.18 Develops, proposes and monitors CEN and CENELEC policy relating to all Intellectual Property Rights, including the copyright of CEN and CENELEC deliverables and their distribution and sales.

3.19 Protects the CEN and CENELEC Trademarks.

3.20 Coordinates quality initiatives within the CEN and CENELEC Systems and CCMC (e.g. BOSS, benchmarking, EN ISO 9001).

3.21 Organises CEN and CENELEC activities in response to policy objectives such as to integrate research and innovation projects with standardization, to support SMEs and societal stakeholders (namely consumers, environmentalists and trade unions) in their involvement and take-up of standardization, and to professionalise education in standardization.

3.22 Actively searches for new standardization opportunities, in new, innovative and/or emerging fields, providing tailored assistance through contacts and dedicated helpdesks (for SMEs, for assistance to research).

3.23 Operates the CEN-CENELEC Meeting Centre (capacity: eight meeting rooms and 300 people).

CEN and CENELEC employees are engaged and dismissed by the Director General         Internal Regulations - Part 1A, 5
