Advisory body to the Technical Board (BT) and the Administrative Board (CA) to enable them to take Information Technology (IT) related decisions. Resolutions  CA 16/2002 and  CA 1/2003

3. Responsibilities
3.1 Addresses, monitors and coordinates IT initiatives throughout the CEN system.  CA N 1382 rev1

3.2 Guarantees the adherence of IT initiatives to the business objectives, strategy and priorities of the CEN system.

3.3 Ensures (through its appointed membership) the sound involvement and balanced representation of CEN interests in all its activities.  
3.4 Ensures (with the participation of invited experts) the full representation of project teams in overall decision-making, as well as to strengthen coordination among CEN IT projects and other initiatives underway within the standardization system.  
3.5 Ensures that an adequate level of commitment and resources are given to these activities by the CEN Members and by the CEN Management Centre (CMC).  
3.6 Ensures a close cooperation with ISO, especially with ITSIG (ISO IT Strategy Implementation Group).

Acts as advisory group to CA and BT
   
5. Composition
  • Chairperson nominated by the CA;
  • three members (IT managers) nominated by the CA;
  • three members (Standardizers) nominated by the BT;
  • one member (expert in the distribution of publications) nominated by Standards Distribution (SD);
  • the CMC IT manager;
  • an observer from CENELEC;
  • an observer from ISO invited when appropriate;
    the Secretariat for the group should be provided by the CMC;
  • Project leaders of IT initiatives are invited to attend meetings as required; other experts involved in relevant initiatives may be invited at the Chairman's discretion.

6. Method of appointment/Review

6.1 The CEN IT Group members are appointed by the respective CEN bodies, following the general guidelines given in item 5 above and are, as far as possible, representative of all sizes and interests of the CEN Membership
6.2 The Chairperson and the permanent members are appointed for three-year terms, renewable                                            
7. Mode of working
7.1 The group operates in full transparency towards all CEN Members and convenes sessions inviting CEN Members as appropriate.

7.2 Working groups (e.g. Virtual Groups) may be set up to prepare recommendations related to specific issues, for the CEN IT Group to consider.
