A National Standards Body from a country officially identified as an accepted or potential candidate for joining the European Union (EU) or European Free Trade Association (EFTA) and which has close links with the EU and EFTA in relation to technical, scientific, economic, political and social conditions.

3. Responsibilities

3.1  Implements European Standards (ENs) as national standards in its own language or in one of the official CEN languages and withdraws conflicting national standards wherever possible.

3.2   Commits to comply with the rules set by the Statutes of CEN, including financial obligations as decided by the AG

3.3  Notifies all new national projects to the CEN-CENELEC Management Centre (CCMC) (for consideration under the "Committee for Standards and Technical Regulations "  (98/34) procedure)


                    

3.4   Implements standstill on national work in accordance with the procedure for the provision of information in the field of standards, as given in Directive 98/34

                                                

3.5  Keeps CCMC fully informed of any changes in its organisation and provides any other relevant information.

4.1  To participate, without voting rights, in the General Assembly (AG), Sector Activities, CEN Certification Board (CCB)

4.2  To become a CEN National Member following fulfillment of specific criteria

4.4  To submit comments at the CEN enquiry stage on draft standards 

4.5  To reproduce and sell drafts for CEN enquiry within own country only in accordance with CEN/CENELEC Guide 10: Policy for the distribution and sales of CEN/CENELEC publications in all formats

4.6  To sell national standard adoptions of ENs and the ratified texts of ENs not implemented as national standards in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Exploitation Agreement and subject to the provisions of the CEN/CENELEC Guide 10 and the provisions of the Licence Agreement for the adoption of CEN Standards

6.1  Written application to the CEN Director General showing proof of compliance with the specified criteria
