CEN Workshop 26 - Humanitarian Mine Action – Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – Test and Evaluation

CEN has been active over these last 7 years in the field of Humanitarian Mine Action. This has been possible thanks to the involvement of UNMAS (United Nations Mine Action Standards), GICHD (The Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining), the EC Joint Research Centre of ISPRA, ITEP (International and Evaluation Program for Humanitarian Demining. The EC has been contributing to the development of this large programme through financial support  (Mandate M/306). Coordination has been ensured at CEN by the BT/WG 126 'Humanitarian Demining'.

So far, four CWAs have been published:

  • CWA 14747:2003 - Humanitarian Demining Action – Test and Evaluation – Metal Detectors
  • CWA 15044:2004 - Humanitarian Demining Action – Test and Evaluation – Demining machines
  • CWA 15464:2005 - Humanitarian Demining Action – EOD Competency Standards (5 parts)
  • CWA 15756:2007 - Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) - Test and Evaluation:
This CWA has been provisionally withdrawn. The measurement of the quantity of explosive, necessary to carry out the tests, is inaccurate. Pending the recalculation of this parameter, a revised CWA in which the incriminated clause will be removed will be soon posted on this web page. New tests will have to be carried out before a complete CWA can be finalized and published.
