CEN e-Business Interoperability Forum (eBIF)

Start date: 2005

On hold since November 2010.

Following the eBusiness Focus Group recommendations, at the beginning of 2005 CEN launched the eBusiness Interoperability Forum (eBIF) to serve as the European platform for considering interoperability solutions related to eBusiness, and making strategic recommendations on standardization activities required to achieve this. Participants included IT vendors, end-users from industry, SME representatives, public administrations, the European Commission, and representatives of key standards consortia.

eBIF organized four Conferences on eBusiness interoperability issues, updated the eBusiness Roadmap, facilitated the dialogue of convergence between UN-CEFACT and UBL, supported the first phase of the Test Bed project. In 2010, discussion has taken place to see how eBIF could develop to support the CEN CENELEC ICT Forum and possibly become a more permanent structure in CEN. eBIF is chaired by Peter Potgieser, Royal Bank of Scotland. The second phase of Test Bed will continue in 2011 as a CEN Workshop.
