Background
The Orchid Workshop will contribute significantly to establish sufficient critical mass and focus in Europe on resolving the interoperability issues in the product and plant engineering supply chain through reference data libraries and standardized digital product models.
CEN Workshop Agreements (CWAs)
The Workshop is preparing two CWAs:
CWA 1 'Roadmap to competitive advantage via standardized sharing and storing of plant lifecycle engineering information' provides companies of the process industry with a common vision about future standardization.
CWA 2 'Implementation Guide for Standardization and Sharing of Plant Lifecycle Information' provides technical advice to carry out implementation steps. It also provides an overview of standards, used in the process industry.
The two draft CWAs are available for public comment until 19 June 2010. Comments shall be sent to Ton van Bergeijk, NEN.

Workshop status
The Workshop Kick-off meeting was held on Thursday 7 May 2009 in Brussels.
The First Plenary meeting was held on 2 December 2009 in Brussels.
The Second Plenary meeting was held on 25 February 2010 in Brussels.
The Final Open Conference took place on 19-20 May 2010 in Monheim, Germany.
Formal publication of the CWAs by CEN and the National Standardization Bodies (NSBs) is expected in the period August-September 2010.
